En 1453 les Anglais n’occupent plus que la ville de Calais, toutes les provinces ont retrouvé la paix. Louis XI monte sur le trône à Reims en 1461 puis signe la fin de la guerre de Cent ans avec Edouard IV à Picquigny (Picardie) en 1475. Les Grands (Charles de France frère du roi exécuté, Charles le Téméraire tué lors d’un combat et René d’Anjou cousin du roi mort par le destin de la vie), tous vaincus, laissent à Louis XI le début de la composition de la France que François 1er orchestrera quelques années plus tard. La France de Louis XI (habile négociateur) quitte doucement la période du Moyen Age pour entrer, avec ses futurs successeurs prestigieux, dans une nouvelle période : celle de la Renaissance.
